5 Tips for Signing Your Ketubah

The signing of the Ketubah is considered an integral part of a traditional Jewish wedding.

Here are some tips to help it go smoothly….

1. Order it a few months in advance especially if you are doing a lot of personalization. Don’t wait in case it arrives late or with a mistake on it.

2. Have it already matted so it lays flat. Have a frame/glass on hand so you can showcase it at the wedding. Make sure you have an easel if you do decide to display it and know where you want it set up after the signing.

3. Make sure you have your witnesses and that they know when and where they need to be for the signing. Since it’s right before the ceremony, you don’t want to be running around looking for them. Also check with your rabbi as to if they need to both be male and not related to you.

4. Use an acid-free, archival quality pen to sign your ketubah. You want that ink to last a lifetime!

5. Let your photographer know you will be doing a ketubah signing so they can scout out a place with good lighting away from everyone else and don’t forget to have a table where you can sign it.

The signing of the ketubah is not only the start of the wedding ceremonies, it is also the start of your beautiful life together as husband and wife.
