As a wedding planner, I’ve seen it all when it comes to wedding day stress. The truth is, no matter how well-planned your wedding is, there will always be a little bit of stress on the big day. But fear not! I’m here to share some of my favorite tips and tricks to help you manage wedding day stress like a pro so that you feel calm, cool, and in the mindset to enjoy all of the special moments of your wedding day.
First things first, take a deep breath and remember why you’re getting married. This is your wedding day, and it’s all about celebrating your love with the people you care about most. Let’s be real: even if you plan everything down to the tiniest detail, something is bound to not go exactly as planned on your big day. Maybe the flowers aren’t quite the right shade of pink, or your cousin makes a cringe-worthy comment during the speeches. Here’s the thing, though: none of that really matters in the grand scheme of things.
At the end of the day, you’re getting married because you’re madly in love with your partner and your wedding day is the kick off celebration to the rest of your life together. It’s not because you just want to throw a fancy party (ok, maybe a little bit has to do with the party… who doesn’t love a good party?!). Try not to sweat the small stuff and focus on what really matters: your connection with each other and having your most cherished friends and family there to witness it all. Take a deep breath and try to soak it all in… even the things that go wrong that you’ll certainly laugh about for years to come.
It’s easy to get caught up in the details and stress over every little thing. But trust us, when you’re standing there, saying your vows to the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, all those little hiccups will fade away. So don’t forget to pause and appreciate the magic of the moment. After all, that’s what it’s all about.
Another tip is to stay organized. Make sure you have a detailed wedding day timeline, and share it with your wedding party and vendors. This will ensure that everyone is on the same page and knows where they need to be and when. Plus, having a solid plan (and a plan B) in place can help alleviate some of the stress and anxiety. If you’re working with a wedding planner, even better! Here at Blush and Grace Events, we work with our couples to create a thoughtful and personalized timeline, so they know exactly what to expect. Plus, having a planner on the day of your wedding can be a lifesaver. We’ll be your point person, answering questions from vendors, family, and friends, and helping you make any last-minute decisions (hello, weather!). It’s so nice to have someone on your side, looking out for your best interests and helping you enjoy the day without any worries.
Finally, remember to take some time for yourself and be kind to your body. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the day, but make sure to take a moment to breathe, relax, and soak in the love and happiness around you. It’s also important to eat well, stay hydrated, and get plenty of sleep. It’s not going to be an easy task with all that is likely going on – friends and family in town, celebration, and just those general nerves that are going to try and keep you up at night. It’s important to do the best you can to treat your mind and body right leading up to and on the day of the wedding. Try using apps like Calm or Insight Timer or any other workout app to do some meditation to put your mind at ease and in a good place right from the beginning.
In the end, wedding day stress is totally normal, but with a little preparation (and a great planner by your side!), you can handle anything that comes your way. So take a deep breath, and get ready to enjoy the best day of your life!
